FUNDRAISING - other
Every girl on the team donated $10 to a team pot. With the $250, we went to an electronic store and bought a Discman, batteries, extra headphones & 5 CDs. Then, we sold raffle tickets $1 each or 7 for $5 at our school for an entire week during lunch hour. We made over $700...every month we do a different raffle. Some of the other things we have raffled off are:
* Gift Certificates to a mall
* Movie Passes
* Camera, Film & Batteries
* Cell Phones
Also, once we mentioned to the stores what it was for, they would give us a sale price to help. As a thank you, we would make a HUGE poster with their logo on it and hang it up at school.
-Sarah
Our cheerleading squad had a sumo-wrestling match. We went to Wal-Mart and K-Mart and talked to them about donating 24 blow-up sumo wrestling costumes. Then everyone was able to pick a teacher to wrestle. We sold tickets for $4.00 before the match date and $5.00 at the door. We had a great turnout! We also had a little concession stand.
-Amanda
We do this every once in a while: We find a toilet and put fake flowers in the toilet to make it a tacky yard decoration and place it in someone's yard. The owner of the home must pay us $10 dollars to move the toilet out of their yard and they get to pick where it goes next. It is a fun thing to do and will be sure to get you some MAJOR money!!
-Kelsey
Bowl-a-thon is when the girls or boys go around and collect money per pin or just a flat donation. For example, if someone received a donation of 10 cents per pin and bowled a total score of 114, the person that was paying 10 cents per pin would have to give $11.40!! The most are team got was $621.00! That money can be very helpful! See your local bowling alley!

COW PATTY BINGO!
Each year to kick off football season our local athletic program sponsors "Cow Patty Bingo." Five hundred numbered tickets are sold to the general public at $10 a ticket. It's always a sell out. The high school football field is then transformed into a grid by drawing out 500 (numbered) squares covering the field. The public anxiously waits with tickets in hand as a referee escorts Bessie the Cow onto the field. The cow meanders around the field, chooses her spot and drops a "cow patty." The referee calls out the number on the square in which the patty is and the person holding the winning ticket with the matching number wins half the money collected (50/50). Each year $5000 is collected, split and the athletic club earns $2500. Fun is had by all!

Wake-A-Thon: Request from your local park to borrow their gym for one night (from 7 pm to 7 am). Parents of course will chaperon. Receive pledges from family, friends, neighbors and community businesses. They sponsor you by the minutes (.05 cents for every minute) you stay a wake. The idea is to earn money for however long you can stay awake. Once you fall asleep, the coaches will clock your time for when you back to your sponsors and collect their pledges. It's a lot of fun and not a lot of work. The team can dance all night, watch TV, and eat snacks to stay awake. HAVE FUN!!!!
-Annette
Well for my dance team we needed some money for uniforms. We decided to host a spaghetti dinner. On top of that we sold telegrams on the same night. We made a MEGA profit. It was $4.00 a ticket. The telegrams sold for $.75.
-Davita
This is called the Pink Flamingo. Buy a bunch of those really ugly, tacky and cheap pink yard flamingos. Place them in people's yards with a note attached: If they want the flamingos out of their yard they have to pay $5 dollars, $5 more if they want to send them to someone else's yard and $5 more if they don't want them sent back. Now, of course you put this idea in the paper and advertise so people know what you're doing. We did this for our dance squad all summer long and made quite a bit of money. It was also fun way for the town to get involved!
-Sarah North
My school hosted a cheerleading competition in our gym. In the lobby we sold shirts, jewelry, cotton candy, candy grams and raffled off baskets. In the cafeteria we sold lots of different foods: pizza, pretzels, nachos, you name it we had it. This kept up from 9 AM to at least 7 PM. We ended up making over $2000.
-Anonymous
My squad set up a booth outside of a shop in our town. It was having an anniversary sale. We face painted and took donations from anyone who wanted to give us money for uniforms. We made over $1,000!
-Alexa
A great fundraiser we do for our Youth League Cheer Program is the Father/Daughter Ball. The girls are all asked to bring in decorations, food, beverages etc. The only out of pocket cost is the DJ. Tickets are sold for $25.00/couple. We also have photos taken, for $5.00/couple. Take for the night averages $2500-$3500.
-Ann Laine
A great fundraiser that our cheerleaders did was "Date a Cheerleader for a Day." We made our own jars and they put tickets with $1 in the jar. The ticket read:
Name:
Cheerleader:
Day to go the date:
Where to go:
The winners for each cheerleader was announced over the intercom during daily announcements.
-Katie O.
For Homecoming week (it'll work for anytime) we take pictures of the Homecoming courts' body parts (like ankle, knee, neck, hands, feet etc.) tape the pictures on the outside of soup cans. Each day we have a different theme. (Like "Best Ankle", "Best Foot", etc.) People put money in the person's can that they think has the best body part. We announce the winner during the pep rally. It works great and everyone enjoys it!
-Katie
Our cheerleading squad had a cheerleading booth where all the cheerleaders put their heads into the hole of a giant piece of wood. Mostly guys paid to give the girls a kiss!! It's a real teaser and it worked great!! We charged $1.00 for 2 kisses, your choice of cheerleader!! We raised over $800 dollars! After the booth was over all the girls went home and washed their cheeks!
-Krystle
We have this fundraiser called rent-a-kid. It is where each cheerleader gets a form, and they check the boxes of what kind of work they would do. They state the times and the days they are available to work. We printed many copies and put them at everyone's front door. The people who needed help in anything called them and hired them to work.
-Mandy
One thing that my Varsity squad does is have road-blocks. We do it one Saturday during the summer. We normally go to a 4 way stop and when people stop we ask them if they want to donate. Most people (especially if you are really smiley) will give a couple dollars. We made $500 in one day!
-Amber
We made a sports calendar for our school. We put all the games for all of the sports (football, basketball, soccer, etc.)
all year long on the calendar. Each month we featured senior players from different sports along with different cheerleaders. We sold ads to businesses to be printed around the pictures. So, we made money from both the ads and selling the calendars! You can make the copies yourself and use plastic binders and save the cost of paying someone to do it.
-Anonymous
Every year before competition we have an hour in the gym to get ready for the competition. We invite all the parents, family and friends to come and watch. We charge $3 at the door and it is a good time to do other fund raisers and get ready for the upcoming competition.
-Destiny
A great way to raise money is to host a cheerleading competition. Invite all the schools in your area! Our school did that and we charged 3 dollars per person at the door, sold baked goods and cheer grams. We made at least $750 in that one night! You've got to try this one. Its great!
-Lynn Anne
Our squad sells flats of flowers, brochure items and candy at lunches. We also work as carhops and have a Sonic Day; Sonic advertises some Vines' specials (the name of our school), and for everyone who orders a special, our squad gets a percentage. The squad also gets to keep all tips earned that day. We have 2 cheer clinics where we have girls come to the gym and go stations where one group learns a dance; they go to the next station to learn a chant, etc. It's fun, and we made mega-$$ last year. We give each kid a Vines Cheer Clinic t-shirt. In the a.m.
we have from kindergarten through 5th grades; in the afternoon the older girls come (through 8th grade).
-Sherry Gleason
Auctions
Make an envelope for each of the JV and Varsity cheerleaders during the week of homecoming. Each day, during each of the lunches, get two cheerleaders to sit at a table as people give money to put in the cheerleader's envelope of whom they want to get pied. They then write their name down on a piece of paper, how much they gave, and what cheerleader they'd like to pie, and then someone comes and outbids them. You make a lot of money this way and it's also a lot of fun! Then at the homecoming pep rally all the cheerleaders bring 2 cans of whip cream and a garbage bag... and there we announce who's going to pie whom. That's when the actual pieing takes place! It is so much fun! You should really try it!
-Pointer Cheerleader
Last year our squad went to Nationals, so we each had to pay a lot of money. To raise the needed money, we had a cheerleader auction. It was the day before a game. The highest bidder got to go on a date with the cheerleader he was bidding on. It worked great and we raised over $2,000.
-Brooke
At my old high school, we did "Cheerleader Bidding" and people will pay over $300 PER CHEERLEADER! The cheerleaders just have to do what ever the bidder wants, the entire day of school!
-Charity
Money Cans
This year our squad set up 12 jars on a table in the cafeteria. Behind each jar we put a picture of the seniors of football team. People would put money in the jars according to whom they wanted to win "King of Jocks." Girls threw money in the hot guys jars and guys dropped money for their buds and favorite players. It was announced at the Pep Rally. Huge Success!
-Lisa
We have a thing at our school called Penny Wars. It's where you have coffee tins where each cheerleaders name is put on. Then the school can put change in the tin during lunch and after school. The cheerleader with the most money has to kiss a pig. This gets all tons of people involved wanting cheerleaders to kiss pigs. We also hold a movie night. People pay $5.00 to get in and watch 3 movies in our gym. We also sell food there. It is a fun night and you can make a lot of money.
-Sarah
Our school plays our archrival every year for our last regular season game. We do this fundraiser to help pay for the party we throw for the guys after they beat them. We set up a table Monday at lunch and it has five jars with five different teachers names on them. We then have a penny war where people put their loose change in the teacher's jar that they want to win. On Thursday the total amount of money is totaled and the teacher with the most money dresses up in one of our old cheerleading uniforms and they cheer with us at the pep rally held on Friday!! We make tons of money this way!!

Car Washes
We took all our cheerleading squads Freshmen - Seniors and had a big car wash. We sold car wash tickets in advance for $5.00 each so we had our money in advance. Then, all the people that bought tickets could come have their car washed on a certain day and just show us the ticket we sold them. We had cheerleaders doing cheers and building holding signs promoting our car wash, bringing in people who hadn't bought car wash tickets. We went for 5 hours, and probably washed 600 cars! We made A LOT of money and split it through the squads depending on how many members from their squad showed up. It worked really well! We even got to wash a Semi truck!
-Krystal
My squad has a window wash. We go to area gas stations and while people are filling up on gas, we wash their windows. It's quick and easy. Most people are in a hurry so a window wash is great. We ask for donations. All you need is some Windex and a few rolls of paper towels. Good luck.
-Tiffany
Car washes are the best. We charge $5 for car and $7 for big cars. We have the car wash on Sundays at our high school and usually make an average of $400. It just depends on if the weather is nice.
A big fundraiser for our squads and football team this year was a carwash at Wal-Mart. We got everyone involved--even the coaches and parents. We charged $5 per car and had an assembly line going so it went fast. Wal-Mart matches however much you make up to $2000. People who don't want their car washed even donate. The cheerleaders stand out there and do sideline cheers for the customers while everyone else washes the cars. Our teams made $1800 this year.
