Step-Lock
The Step-Lock is the most basic cheer stunt. It is important to master this technique before continuing on to other stunts.
How to:
Base: Lunge to side, creating a good "pocket" for flyer to step in to, keeping other leg locked out straight. With left hand hold onto top of flyer's foot. Wrap other hand around flyer's calf just below the knee, pulling in to your body. Remember to keep shoulders forward.
Flyer: Place foot into base's "pocket" and hands on base's shoulders. On 1-2, down, up, push off bases shoulders and lock out knee, straightening upper body to stand up.
Backspot: Begin with hands on flyer's waist/hips. On count, dip and assist flyer up, continuing to hold onto flyer's waist/hips.
NOTE: Base can lunge on either leg. Flyer would also switch feet accordingly
Dismount:
Flyer: Steps back reaching down to hold onto base's shoulders
Backspot: Continuing to hold on flyer's waist/hips, resist flyer's weight down to the ground.
