Establish a personality or a "signature" for your character. For example, every time that your team makes a touchdown, give the cheer coach a kiss or throw candy into the crowd.

Mascots should go to camp with the cheerleaders. There are many camps that have a program for mascots. They will teach you skits, dances and perfect your gestures.

Mascots should attend EVERY cheerleading practice. They should know all sideline cheers so that they can perform them with the cheerleaders. Some mascots perform with the cheerleaders at half-time or have their own dance/skit.

Practice in front of the mirror wearing the costume. Moves look different when the costume is on. Also you should practice jumps and stunting in the costume.

Always have an escort! It can be very difficult to see in a costume. Some crowds can become crazy. You don't want to have your tail pulled off or be punched in the stomach.
