Tryouts can be handled a many ways, but I consider the following to be the best method:

Mascots should try-out just as cheerleaders do – in front of a panel of judges.

Those trying out should have to do a cheer, emphasizing on exaggeration of movements rather than loudness and facial expressions. They should also come up with a short skit, using music, to show the judges that they can be creative. The music can either be assigned or it can be the choice of those trying out what they want to do.

For anyone trying out to be a mascot, remember to have lots of fun and personality.
