STUNTS - pyramids
Safety Tips
1. ALWAYS have an advisor, coach or adult watching at all times.
2. If anyone feels uncomfortable or unsure about a stunt, don't do it.
3. Always be serious about what you are doing. If someone can't stop laughing, take a break.
4. Spotters and bases- never take your eyes off the flyer, they are trusting you.
5. Flyers- be sure that you have complete trust in your bases and spotters.
6. Be sure you're on a good surface such as cheerleading mats. (Don't build on concrete, ouch!)
Endless Possibilites
The possiblities for pyramids are endless. Below is just a few to get you started. For more ideas, visit the photo album.
Triple Half
1. Have 2 groups doing half extensions with 2 stronger fliers. In between them have another strong flier doing a single base half extension. In front of the 2 double base half extensions have 2 more half extensions with your smaller fliers.
2. The front fliers in the double base half extensions place their outside foot on to the flier in the double base half extension and then the inside foot on the flier in the single base half extension.
Please note:It is 2 and 1/2 people high. Your bottom bases need to be very very very strong.
Dismount: For the fliers on top, twist down into the bases that put them up.
Double Lib, Extension
1. There is a half extension in the middle, and two liberties on either side.
2. The liberties go up, but instead of hitting a lib they hitch their foot onto the hands of the girl in the extension.
3. After the flyers are secure, the flyer in the extension pushes the hitched feet into heal streches.
Dismount: Cradle by having the whole mount dip together. The flyer holds the feet and gently releases them making sure she doesn't throw them.
Tri-Hitch
1. You need 5 groups of people.
a. At the very front of the stunt is a shoulder sit (the front being the side nearest the crowd).
b. Directly behind that is a shoulder stand which leans forward to grab the shoulders of the flyer on the shoulder sit.
c. Directly behind this is a tri based liberty (one back and two sides). The foot that is pulled in the lib will rest on the back of the bent over shoulder stand.
d. On each side of the shoulder stand which is bent over are quad based libs (back, two sides and a front). These libs go up at a slightly angled position and also rest their foot on the back of the bent over shoulder stand (remember that all of the flyers who are resting their feet on the back of the other girl must not put their weight down on her).
2. You now have the basic layout for the tri-hitch.
a. First the shoulder sit goes up on a 1-2 count.
b. Following that same count, the shoulder stand goes up on 5-6.
c. Then on 7-8 the libs all go up.
d. On 3-4 of the next count all the stunts are lowered, then pressed back up. (The bases of the shoulder stand and sit, both bend, then stand back up. All the libs follow this by lowering the lib to a half then all stunts are pressed back up.)
e. The lowering section should be done in 4 counts, 5-6-7-8.
f. When all are back up, the flyers of the libs all hold a muscle man pose for a count. Then it is cradled in a rainbow cradle
g. All libs are cradled back and out (slightly toss the flyer back and move under to catch).
h. The shoulder stand and sit are then walked off.
