PEP RALLIES - homecoming & rivals
During homecoming week we have a wall decorating contest. Every class has a section in the gym where they can put together anything they want to show their school spirit. For example, the seniors put together a score board that had Bears 2003 (their graduation year) and our opponet the Lions 0. The class who gets the most applause wins. It's a really simple activity, but it gets the student body involved. The class that wins gets a pizza party or movie day with free munchies.

For our homecoming pep ralley we put all the girl attendants at one end of the gym and blind folded them. Then we scattered the boy attendants around the gym and the girls had to find their escorts. The boys were supposed to yell for their girl to let them know where they were, but the crowd was allowed to yell too, so it was fun because the girls couldn't hear their name being called!

When our guys basketball team went to State we had a suprise pep rally for them in our auditorium the day they were to leave. Everyone was invited, we announced it in the newspaper and everything. Each class chose 2 team members and made them gift baskets full of goodies for the long ride to the tournament. Their coach brought them all to the auditorium at the same time. As they walked down the halls we put up lots of banners for them and their gift baskets lined the stage. When they came into the auditorium we played "We Are the Champions" by Queen. They got to sit on the stage as we did our cheers and dances. As we escorted them out of the auditorium to the bus we played "Another One Bites the Dust". The whole community was there to escort them out of town. It was an awesome pep rally and one that will be remembered for a very long time.

During our homecoming week, we set up a table with jars and the names of various faculty members on the jars. Students put money in the jar to cast their vote as to who they wanted to see get pied by selected students at the Pep Rally. It was a great fundraiser. On the day of the Pep Rally we said "everyone is a winner, here at our school. Fire when ready!" It was really cool--be sure to get faculty members "okay" before making a jar.

When we were playing against the tigers so we hid three tiger stuffed animals somewhere in the stands of the gym. We had a 6th, 7th, and 8th grade girl find one of the tigers and then tag their partner. Their partner then had to eat a big bowl of frosted flakes cereal. The first finished won.

For Homecoming Pep Rally, we have the Varsity Cheerleaders wear a pin in the shape of lips with their names on them. The entire day they are not allowed to say anything (unless asked a question by a teacher) and whoever they say anything to gets to pie them at our night-time pep rally! It's halarious because as a JV cheerleader you get laugh your head off at them and be glad that you are saved!
-Stacey
For our pep rally against our rival team we had a public pep rally in our school parking lot. We had a bonfire and burned the initials of our rival team. It was so much fun.
-Cherika
We have a yearly Mr. Royal Pageant. One football player from each class (9-12) compete to be Mr. Royal. They compete in swim suit, evening gown, talent and we choreograph an opening number. As commercials we throw in cheers chants, skits, etc. We award the winner with a painted footbal and a homemade crown. The judges are teachers, cheerleaders, parents, coaches, etc. Everyone really gets into it!
-Kate Martocci
For our homecoming pep rally, we held the 1st Annual Mr. Irish contest. The cheerleaders pick 3 football player from each class. At the rally we had the guys come out on the gym floor and answer questions like: What letter of the alphabet would you be and why? We also ask them to do toe touches, dance, anything would work. The judges of the contest were teachers at my school. At the end of the contest all the points were added up and the winner and runner up was announced. We had a crown for the Mr. Irish Man. The students loved it, and the guys had a lot of fun.

Each year, we have a "Mr. & Mrs. Homecoming" competition at the pep rally. A girl and a guy from each grade have to dress up as an outrageous couple (i.e. Snow White and Dopey, Santa and Mrs. Clause, etc.). When it’s their turn, they parade around the gym and get the crowd excited. Most of the couples have a little dance routine together or throw candy out to the kids in the stands! A panel of judges selects the winning couple, and whichever grade they’re in gets points towards the spirit stick. It’s always a lot of fun and a real crowd pleaser!

For one pep rally, the coach let our varsity cheerleaders help shave his head after we won Homecoming! It was hilarious and everyone got a kick out of it!
-Amy
Every year, we have a traditional Homecoming pep rally. We have a Drag Queen contest. We get a guy from every grade to dress up as a drag queen (we usually have about 2-3 girls help him with everything like make-up and stuff0. It is absolutely hilarious. And, if it is possible, we usually get the winner of the previous year to come out and crown the new winner. He is obviously dressed up as a drag himself again. I would suggest everybody to try it. It is the most hilarious thing you'll see.
-Sara
Every year for our Homecoming pep rally we have students sign up for contests such as the limbo, wheelbarrow, and three-legged race. All four grades compete against each other; it's always a blast even though no one really wins anything, except pride. Then a little later on, we always have football or basketball players dress up in cheerleading uniforms and get the crowd hyped!

For my school's homecoming we have a whole week of activities for the high schoolers. We have dress up days and powderpuff football. That is when the girls play football and the football guys dress up like cheerleaders and cheer us on. Also we have a Mess Fest. We have different activities such as picking a guy and a girl from each class to do little races. One of them is where they take off their shoes and socks and stick their feet into a baby pool full of jello with some golf balls in it. The object is to get as many golf balls into a bucket next to you as you can. We also do dances, our school song and our spirit chant.
-Stefanie
At our homecoming pep-rally we had 5 football plays dress up as girls. They were the pep-rally homecoming queen nominees. It was cute. We picked a winner by whoever got the most applause. The team and the student body loved it!

One of the best pep rallies that our school has ever done, was for the big homecoming game. It was great. It was a community pep rally and the whole town was invited. Nobody knew that the football players were going to be there. So
we were just doing the normal cheers, and then the lights went out and strobe lights turned on and our advisors made fog and all of the football players came running out from behind a crash sheet, it was awesome!
-Cheery
Before our rival game, the varsity cheerleaders get about 8-10 guys to dress up in old cheer uniforms. They go out in front of the school with make-up on, hair barrettes, clips, scrunchies, etc. in their hair and they do some chants (and jumps!) for the OTHER TEAM. Then, they did a "dance" to "FREAK OUT" it was SO funny! It really got everyone pepped up for the game!
Last year at homecoming we had a teacher's squad where the cheerleaders dressed up in old cheerleading uniforms and did cheers! It was really funny! Also, during football season, we had a flag football team for the little kids (I go to a PK-12 school), complete with a spirit squad of cheerleaders. They WERE SOOO CUTE!! and everyone loved it! We learned this cheer for them at camp. It goes C-U-T-E They've got personality, They're cute oh yeah They're cute They're darlin!
-Katie
Every year our school has a big bon fire and we have all the captains of the team introduce the teams and they say a little something about their team, then the football cheerleaders have a dance routine and some other dance stuff down at a park. Then we have our Homecoming dance the next night after the football game.
-Heidi
The week before Homecoming we have Spirit Week, where we have camo day, twin day, hippie day, school colors day, and even favorite cartoon character day! It was really funny to see the people who went ALL OUT. Awards were given every day for most spirit/best costume!
-gotcheer?
For our homecoming we used the theme "Viva Las Vegas." Our pep squad performed all together (Frosh, J.V., and Varsity). We picked different places in Las Vegas, found music and rented costumes to perform for the rally. We had Circus Circus (dressed like clowns and pied each other), Wizard of Oz at the MGM, Can-Can Girls, Egyptions, Hard Rock Cafe (we danced to"I Love Rock n' Roll"), and then we had a funky group from "New York New York." It was so much fun to perform and everyone loved it!
